The relatively low altitude (1834 m) and the southern exposure of the walls make it possible to start mountaineering earlier than in other locations, a situation that combined with the great variety of climbs makes it an ideal base for climbing courses. It is also a stopping point for hikers who travel the Alta Via n. 1 of the Dolomites coming from the Vazzoler refuge.
5 minutes from the refuge there’s also a climbing wall equipped with more than 20 itineraries, very popular during the summer season for its suggestive setting for both experienced climbers and training courses.
The winter and spring season, on the other hand, offers the possibility of taking a wonderful walk in a suggestive Dolomite environment in complete tranquility along the mule track that leads to the Refuge (starting from the Duran pass) either through the use of snowshoes, ski mountaineering skis or from ski touring.
Proof of this, is the great attendance of these places even during the winter season.
The possibility of making ski mountaineering trips in the further area, integrates an already very suggestive picture.
