The building, with three naves, was expanded during the works carried out between 1863 and 1875. Inside, there are numerous works, among which stands out the Altarpiece of Saint Mary Magdalene, by Pietro Pajetta.
On the counter-façade is the fresco Ascension (1948) by the local artist Luigi Cillo, which depicts Jesus before ascending to heaven, on the Mount of Olives in the presence of the apostles. This fresco is the first of a long series of works by Luigi Cillo; works that are found not only in the local churches but also abroad, such as in the Cathedral of Matriz Velha in São Paulo, Brazil.
By another local artist, Erminio Soldera, is the oil on canvas depicting Saint Anthony of Padua with the child Jesus, on the right wall of the presbytery.
