Campanile

The bell tower of Fregona, begun in 1881 based on a design by master builder Ciprian Francesco, is admired not only for its massive Gothic Revival style, but also for the over 300 steps of the internal spiral staircase, the elegant balustrades, the lateral pinnacles, the gargoyles shaped like dragon and lion heads, and especially for the decorations with acanthus leaves in the capitals. This bell tower is a testament to the diligence and remarkable skill of the stonemasons of Breda, who excelled in working with the “soft” stone of Caglieron used for its construction.
