Corte Pigno Park, a green oasis only six kilometers from Piazza Bra, with its great variety of secular trees, blooming shrubs and level lawns will joyfully welcome you to celebrate your recurrences or simply for a visit, that nature lovers will for sure appreciate.
Parco Corte Pigno is a large garden owned by the Farina family for over a century. It is located outside the village of Santa Lucia on Via Mantovana, which follows the route of the Roman Via Postumia, a link between Genoa and Aquileia. The courtyard is recorded on the map drawn by Adriano Cristofoli in 1750 which documents the countryside of the magnificent city of Verona.
In 1861 the Austrians built the adjacent Gisela fort, named after the daughter of Emperor Franz Joseph born in 1856. An interesting military artifact, which can be visited today, which together with Parco Corte Pigno constitutes an important environmental oasis on the outskirts of Verona. In the Austrian Land Registry of 1840, the courtyard is registered as a holiday home and appears to have belonged to the Righi family. It was later passed, through marriage, to the Counts Cagnoli, then sold to the Barons Lassotovich and in 1900 was purchased by the Farina family.
The garden is characterized by a long avenue that starts from the villa and ends on Via Mantovana, flanked by box hedges and hydrangeas. The original tree heritage, from which the name Corte Pigno derives, due to the massive presence of Deodara and Atlantica Cedars, has been enriched by the owners, over the years, by many varieties of trees, shrubs, perennial and seasonal flowers. In addition to the various botanical specimens, in the park you can see the bust of one of the past owners, Antonio Farina, made by the sculptor Nereo Costantini, author of the famous statue of Juliet, columns, bridges, a sensory path.
