The 14th-century saw the rise in popularity of countryside villa retreats amongst the wealthy Italian intelligentsia. In 1535 the architect Giovanni Falconetto set about designing an elegant villa on a raised terrace. The design of the building placed emphasis on the green surroundings of the Euganean Hills and the shady flanking loggias were purpose-built to capture the stunning scenery.
The Mansarde del Frutteto and Vigneto are two flats available for independent use and can sleep up to four people each. They are equipped with a kitchen, a living room, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, each with its own private bathroom and provided with bed and bath linen, pillows and blankets. A travel cot suitable for babies up to two years old is available on request. Air heating and air conditioning are provided in every room, except for the bathrooms which have electric towel heaters.
Both apartments are available for a minimum stay of 3 nights, Friday to Monday, or 4 nights Monday to Friday or multiple (7, 14, 21, 28). FAI members are entitled to a 10% discount. Special rates can be applied from time to time.
By Public Transport
The best airport to use is Venice Marco Polo (about 60 minutes away by road), but you can also fly to Verona
(90 minutes), Treviso (60 minutes), or Milan (150 minutes).
There are a few buses from Padua railway station to Torreglia (about 35 minutes journey), which is about 2km
from Villa dei Vescovi and to Luvigliano, which is about 500 metres.
By Road
To reach Villa dei Vescovi Directions by road from Verona: from the A4 Milan-Venice motorway take the exit
marked “Padova Ovest”; join the ring road “tangenziale” then take the exit heading for Colli Euganei; continue
along this road for about 10km heading towards Teolo. Drive through Praglia and, after the roundabout, take
the road marked for Luvigliano. About 20km from the motorway exit.
From the A13 Bologna – Padova motorway, take exit Terme Euganee; follow the sign for Montegrotto Terme,
Torreglia and then the FAI signs for Villa dei Vescovi. About 15 km from the motorway exit.
