Villa Dei Vescovi
Via Vescovi, 4 , Luvigliano Torreglia - 35038
Completed in the 16th century, thanks to the interest of Alvise Cornaro, administrator of the assets of the Padua curia, this complex is characterized by a series of large open loggias. Crossed by rays of sunlight, they create particular plays of light that project onto the walls. This residence was intended to host the high-ranking prelates of Padua. The layout of Villa dei Vescovi is square and naturally adapts to the top of the hill on which it stands, integrating architecture with the surrounding nature. The internal rooms house valuable frescoes with antiquarian themes by the Flemish artist Lambert Sustris, which unfortunately were severely altered during various restoration phases of the villa. In 1962, Villa dei Vescovi was sold to the Olcese family, who restored it to its former glory through important restoration and recovery work on the frescoed surfaces. In 2006, the owners donated it to FAI (Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano).
