A thematically guided tour recounting the rituals of marriage through the many Ketubot, the marriage contracts in the Museum's collection written on parchment and often richly decorated with drawings and symbols.
Marriage in Judaism is, on one hand, a private agreement between husband and wife codified by contract and, on the other hand, a commitment that the couple makes to the community, in compliance with what is written in Genesis, namely, "Grow, multiply and populate the earth." The visit will continue to the Synagogue as seen from the women's gallery telling other specifics related to the role of women in Judaism.
