Villa Mocenigo
Riviera San Pietro, 83 , Oriago (VE) - 30034
Villa Mocenigo is a Venetian villa on the Brenta Riviera. It is located on the right bank of the Naviglio in Oriago di Mira. It was the seat of the International Center for Studies on Tourist Economics of the Ca 'Foscari University. The hypotheses of some scholars date Villa Mocenigo between 1660 and 1663, other documents instead testify that at the beginning of the 1700s, in the same place, a different and not lacking in elegance building was located, named Villa Valier. The first evidence that documents the existence of the building, as we see it now, is the engraving table n.19 made by Francesco Costa in the eighteenth century. The villa was inhabited by the Mocenigo family, who kept various possessions, factories and mills along the Riviera del Brenta. The horizontal extension of the structure further enhances the central part of the façade, on which the preciously decorated tympanum emerges, with the Mocenigo family crest in the center. The interior frescoes were made by Giandomenico Tiepolo.
