Villa Gradenigo
Riviera San Pietro, 75 , Origa di Mira - 30034
The building is cubic and its exterior walls were once completely frescoed. In the interiors there are large wall decorations attributed to Paolo Veronese's brother, Benedetto Caliari (1538-1598), and to some Paduan painters. The atrium is decorated with depictions of Alexander the Great and Muzio Scevola, hero of ancient Rome. A magnificent staircase, in whose grotesque mural painting alternate with busts of famous Venetian doges, leads to the upper floor of the villa. Originally there were the lodgings of the lords. During the 19th century, the old and majestic villa lost much of its splendor: the spacious rooms were divided into several independent apartments. It was only in 1960 that the villa was purchased free of charge and finally renovated.
