Farmacia Internazionale

Piazza Bra, 28 , Verona - 37121

The pharmacy has three floors: on the upper floors there are rooms devoted to homeopathic products, while the retail space takes place on the ground floor. The neogothic furniture of the ground floor dates to the 1930s. The wooden counter with a grey marble surface, finely decorated with the Scaligeri insignia and the guild symbol of the apothecaries is particularly noteworthy. As well as are noteworthy the scales with wooden and marble arms located on the external side of the counter and the ancient mortar in red marble. The products and the medicines are preserved in the original shelves with a mullioned frame and in the splendid display cases with decorated frosted glass.
The floor with its small white tiles dates to the time in which the pharmacy was built. Outside, the wrought iron lantern is visible; the structure keeps its sustaining functions but has no glass.

Over the years, different generations of the Carpi family have managed the pharmacy and due to its prestige and antiquity it is included in the historical shops.

Interesting facts: since 1630, in this corner of Piazza Bra was located a pharmacy called “Royal Pharmacy” and called by the Veronese people “Farmacia alle Putte”. At the end of the 1920s, the architect Ettore Fagiuoli was commissioned the construction of the Teatro Filarmonico and the consequent redesign of the pharmacy.

Opening year: 1929
