The Furio Bianchet refuge (1250 m above sea level) is located in the high Val Vescovà in the clearing of Pian de i Gat (gat = low clouds, a precursor of rain) on the slopes of the Coro massif, surrounded by a magnificent forest of fir trees, above which stand the northwestern face of Schiara, the Gusela del Vescovà, and the daring horn of Nason, which is particularly striking at sunset when they are lit up with rosy glows.
Accessible via a forest road (closed to traffic), it is a stopover point along the Alta Via 1 and a good base for excursions and alpine climbs of varying difficulty.
The cuisine is homemade, simple but genuine.
