The Museum's collections tell of personalities and events up to and including the changes, cultural and in method, that characterized the structuring of the discipline of archaeology in Padua, in parallel with its development in the rest of Europe.
The original nucleus, formed by the part of the collection of Marco Mantova Benavides (16th century) came to the University thanks to the Vallisneri donation (1733) and, its current display, privileges some of the themes originally present, such as ancient and all'antica portraits, casts and models of Renaissance artists and ancient Greek and Roman sculptures.
The other rooms, however, present the archaeological and educational collections.
All the cores reflect diverse tastes and eras, as well as different modes of acquisition due to educational and research use.
A unique opportunity to be guided through the developmental processes of the archaeological discipline!
