A staircase located at the back of the Cathedral of Serravalle begins the climb to the sanctuary, a destination for pilgrimages for centuries. Along the path that winds through the woods, there are six chapels, built by devoted families from Serravalle as a form of gratitude. About halfway along the path, there is a decorated capital depicting the famous scene of Saint Augusta who miraculously turned bread into flowers to escape the fury of her father due to her conversion to Christianity. At the top of the summit, there is a medieval tower, once part of the fortifications that protected Serravalle. Beyond the tower, a staircase made up of 100 steps leads to the top of the hill where the Sanctuary stands.
Noteworthy is the wonderful view over Vittorio Veneto, which on clearer days stretches all the way to the lagoon of Venice.
