Fishing valleys are undoubtedly one of the most fascinating contexts of the Po Delta. This itinerary takes us to discover those located between the Po di Levante and the Po di Maistra, the wildest branch of the river, which we will explore in depth. Starting from Piazza Martiri Della Libertà in Ca' Venier (the first Venetian settlement, around the mid-1600s, in the still-forming Delta), we head left with the large Venier estate on our right and reach the nearby bank of the Po di Venezia, turn right, and carefully cross the small bridge over the Po di Maistra, which was once the main branch of the river. After a beautiful flooded area, we turn right again and see the geometric countryside on the left giving way to the brackish lakes of Valle Pisani, always frequented by numerous waterfowl. We pass a characteristic restaurant with a large central fireplace and continue through the fields until we reach the Scanarello farm, continue straight until another bank, keep left and proceed along the way of the valleys, with the Vallona lagoon on our right and the various fishing valleys that follow on the opposite side, regularly frequented by the great pink flamingos. We thus arrive at Porto Levante, a characteristic riverside village between the Po di Levante and the Marinetta Lagoon. For the return, we retrace the way of the valleys back to the Scanarello farm, where we change route and continue on the dirt path, then turn left following the signs to an isolated chapel. We continue along the road until the boat bridge that allows us to cross the Po di Maistra and reach the village of Boccasette. From here, we always keep to the bank road, with the river on our right and the countryside on our left, reaching the pumping station Ca' Venier, where we descend in the locality of San Giorgio. The small road leads us to provincial road 37, we turn right, travel for 350 meters, and carefully cross it to enter a paved country road that will take us to via del Faro, a bank road on the main branch of the Po. We turn right and return to Ca' Venier from where we started.
