The castle of Arcole was very likely built in the early decades of the 10th century, following the first devastating Hungarian raids, in a raised and protected area to the west of the Zerpana valley.
The defensive structures of the original castle were represented by a moat and a fence that was meant to protect an octagonal area, whose axes were the current Rosario and via Abazzea. Inside, there was likely the inhabited center, with the ancient parish church of San Giorgio. The castle was most likely demolished by the Scaligeri between 1327-1375. The Albetino Statute of 1276 ordered that the castle and the walls of Arcole should have been demolished by a thousand men in ten days.
