Entire day
At 10:00 in the morning, participants will meet the guide and visit the BRION CEMETERY in San Vito di Altivole. The Brion Cemetery is one of the significant monumental art pieces designed by Carlo Scarpa, who was born in Venice in 1906 and died in Sendai (Japan) in 1978 for an accident. The artist was an undisputed master in the employment of reinforced concrete for graphic-ornamental purposes, with mosaics made by coloured pieces of Murano glass and bronze finishing touches integrated into an unreal atmosphere. It includes the Zen Philosophy and the Japanese art, characterised by water tubs. At the end of the itinerary, a tasting of the typical “Ghisola cake” at the Sarti patisserie will be offered. Free lunch in Asolo. In the afternoon, there will be a guided tour of the historic centre of Asolo, where artists and poets such as Eleonora Duse and Robert Browning sojourned. Asolo is one of the most beautiful hamlets of Italy, “città slow”, and it is indubitably connected to some celebrities who visited the town over time: Cipro Queen Caterina Cornaro, the actress Eleonora Duse, the writers Robert Browing and Freya Stark.
