At the foot of the Belluno Prealps, along the Strada del Prosecco, lies the village of Combai. From its position, Combai dominates the valley that descends east towards Miane, Follina, Cison and the lakes of Revine up to Vittorio Veneto, while to the west it gently slopes down to Valdobbiadene. This location is famous for the production of Marroni.
The Marrone di Combai is an agricultural product typical of Veneto, which has been granted the I.G.P. mark. The wooded areas of the territory are predominantly chestnut trees, the cultivation of which, introduced in the Middle Ages, was very important for the local population's diet. The abundant rainfall, particularly cold temperatures, and the nature of the soils in the production area provide particularly favorable conditions for the development of the specific organoleptic properties of the Marrone di Combai IGP. Since 1945, between October and November, the Marroni Festival takes place with specialties and typical dishes based on chestnuts in the namesake hamlet of the municipality of Miane.
