Chiesa di Santa Maria dell'Anconese

The Church of Saint Mary of Anconese dates back to 1700s. In the 10th century it became a convent of Benedictine nuns, while in the 15th century, according to popular belief, it became a sanctuary. In the next century, it lost so much importance that the materials of the annex convent were reused for the building site of Carceri Abbey.
Today the municipality and the Episcopal Curia have founded a Spiritual Center for the order of nuns - Suore Serve di Maria Riparatrice - on it.
Inside the church, we can see in the walls some architectural recycled materials of the Roman period and a small piece of fresco from the 1400s.
