Come visit Montagnana, discover the important artistic works it houses, admire its breathtaking views and enjoy a great concluding tasting!
The guided tour starts from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, where the fine buildings facing it will be explained.
Next, we will visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, which houses valuable works, including the famous Battle of Lepanto, two frescoes attributed to Giorgione and the altarpiece by Paolo Veronese.
Afterwards, the walk will continue along the southern section of the medieval walls, with pauses along the way to admire the curiosities and structural peculiarities related to the walls, reaching the Rocca degli Alberi, an imposing 14th-century fortress built by the Carrarese Seignory.
We will finally head to Castel San Zeno, the oldest nucleus of the medieval city, with an illustration of its structure. There will also be an opportunity to climb to the Mastio di Ezzelino, the tallest and oldest tower in Montagnana, from which there is a beautiful view of the town and surrounding countryside.
Afterwards, after a glimpse of Villa Pisani, a noble residence designed by Andrea Palladio for Francesco Pisani in the mid-16th century, the tour concludes in the evocative Court of Arms of Castel San Zeno to enjoy a tasting of delicious appetizers and fragrant wines from the Cantina di Montagnana “La Vite di Monica” winery.
