Edificio "Carlo Delacroix"

The historic building in the little village of Sottoguda, in front of the characteristic church, is dedicated to Carlo Delacroix, a courageous soldier of the Great War I. Carlo Delacroix was celebrated with the Silver Medal as military value on the battle fields. In fact, he did some eroic deeds in order to save the other soldiers' lives removing the unexploded guns from the battle fields. Doing this, he has completely lost his hands and the sight. Thanks to this initiative, he gave the chance to save lots of the other soldiers' lives. The Carlo Delacroix building, in the past, has been very important in the life of a small village like Sottoguda. Is has been an elementary school, then parish house, then it became a sort of shelter house for families who had some damages at their houses after the big flood of 1966. Through this ancient and thick walls also some legend are born: some inhabitants of Sottoguda say that ghosts of children or hurt soldiers coming from the past are present in the house. Also nowadays some psychic people fell the presence of some spirits. Today this historical building is open to the visitors all year long because it hosts the Tourist Office.
