The village of Sottoguda, awarded as One of the most Beautiful little village in Italy since 2016, is an unique hamlet at the feet of Mount Marmolada where the visitors breathe the history and the dulture of the Dolomites.
Sottoguda is also famous for its tradidional haylofts, some of them now perfectly restored, which made unique this hamlet. On the occasion of some particular events, these haylofts are open to the public: the unique chance to visit them also inside is offered.
Walking at Sottoguda it is possible also to admire lots of works of art belonging from the ability of the artisans. There is, in particular, the tradition of wood and whought iron working: some works are present outside the stores.
Finally, this village is famous also for the "Serrai di Sottoguda" a 2.5 km long canyon from Sottoguda to Malga Ciapela. The Serrai di Sottoguda were heavily damaged by the Vaia storm at the end of October 2018. A tragic passage that left a devastating mark on the landscape of the Belluno Dolomites and the Serrai di Sottoguda. The restoration interventions lasted a long time: it was a long, complex and delicate job that led to the partial reopening of the Serrai with a new route in August 2024. The works are not yet completed but thanks to the "Open Construction Site" initiative, the Serrai can be visited until September 15th.
