Farmacia alla Concezione

The shop window has been restored over time, while the inner furniture dates to the period of its foundation. Precious and elegant wooden shelves cover the walls from the floor to the ceiling, which is also made of wood and well preserved.

The display cabinets are composed by an inferior part with drawers and an upper part with shelves and glasses. The furniture is separated by recurring pilasters with painted capitals which preserve the original golden nuance.
The counter next to the entrance presents the same style of the furniture base. In the back of the shop, stairs lead to the cellar, which is not open to the public; this space was probably used as a laboratory in the past for the treatment of officinal herbs and the preparation of medicines.

Interesting facts: in the cotto tiles vaulted cellar there is a big stone mortar, which testifies to the ancient preparation of officinal products.
