Sentiero Rosa dei Colli - R7

Piazza Marconi , Rovolon - 35030

You can park in the main square of Bastia.
Leaving the square, as you are walking down Via Monte Cereo (Monte Cereo Street), you will see Monte Cereo (or Sereo, in local dialect) at the end of the street. After about 200 meters of walking, after passing private homes, on the left, you can admire an old farm with a “Colombara” tower (colombarium), certainly the most beautiful in the area, and perhaps of the entire Euganean hills.(1)
After about another 100 meters, you will come to a crossroad. Turn right. For about 500 meters you will be walking on a flat asphalted road—which later becomes unpaved—alongside Monte Cereo on the left.
On the right you will be rewarded with an excellent view of the “Vallone” (big valley) between the foothills of Monte Viale and Monte Spinazzola.
Following the road, there is then a steep climb of about 250 meters ending at a provincial road which leads from Rovolon down to Montemerlo. Turn left but do not take the descending road, keep to your left and in about 50 meters you will see a shrine.
Follow this road half-way up Monte Cereo for about 700 meters along an asphalted road surrounded by greenery.
On the right, among the trees, you can catch a glimpse of Frassanelle Golf Club. Then you arrive at a crossroads: one road on the left climbs towards Villa Montesi-Barbarigo while the other descends.
Take the downhill road. About 20 meters just beyond the ridge, take a left on a path that begins between some trees. After a short stretch of wood, the path opens onto a green valley. Proceed downhill alongside Monte Sereo until you arrive at a cycle path.
Turn left at the cycling path. Skirting the hill, on the left you will see Villa Montesi-Barbarigo overlooking the small valley.
After about another 500 meters, the path will take you back to the first crossroads of this itinerary. Turn right, passing once again the old Colombara farm, which then leads you back to the main square of Bastia.

NOTES:

(1)A columbarium is a structure intended to house pigeons (colombo in italian means pigeon) and contains pigeonholes for the birds to nest. Towers of this kind, although generally more modest and less beautiful, are not uncommon in ancient farms, villas and manor houses in Italy. They are found in the Euganean hills as in many other areas of Italy.
