Villa Rezzonico

Via Ca’ Rezzonico 68/72 , Bassano del Grappa (VI) - 36061

It is located along State Road 47, at the gates of the city of Bassano, and built at the end of the seventeenth century on commission of Count Abbondio Rezzonico.

The building was built in the early eighteenth century by Gianbattista Rezzonico and was designed by the famous architect Baldassare Longhena.

Villa Rezzonico is a clear example of neoclassical construction, fitting into the production of those Venetian artists and builders of the first half of the eighteenth century.

The central body can be accessed by a staircase protected by slumped lions; two stairwaya depart from the large hall to access the apartments.

The ceiling contains a central valuable painting on canvas by Gian Battista Volpato, "Jupiter electrocuting the Titans". The ground floor houses large paintings with personifications, including the "Triumph of Faith" by Antonio Canova.
