The first document indicating its existence dates back to 1349. It is likely that its construction took place in conjunction with the creation of the second ring of walls in 1312, in order to protect the new houses built around the old village.
Its initial use remains shrouded in a veil of mystery, however the imposing measures and the absence of decoration suggest a military use. It was probably erected by the Paduans around 1315 equidistant between the two castles in order to defend the old and the new access points to the city.
40 meters high and 14 meters wide, you can climb to the top and enjoy a splendid panoramic view of a completely new Bassano. Along the way, the history of the tower and the city is narrated through photos and illustrative panels.
