The Dome of the city, is located within the first circle of walls and inside the Upper Castle. This is the highest part of the city and here the original nucleus was formed, around which over the centuries were formed small villages. Before crossing the door that leads into the courtyard of the castle, on the right stands the Tower of Ser Ivano, watchtower, placed diagonally to the path of the walls.
The presence of this parish is documented fin since 998, in a placitum laid out on the occasion of a judicial assembly presided over by Count Azeli and Oberto, Bishop of Verona.
Over the centuries the Parish Church of Santa Maria in Colle was altered several times and enlarged, up until taking on the current appearance of clear Baroque imprint, dating back to the seventeenth century.
The interior is rectangular, punctuated along the walls by Corinthian pilasters. The altarpiece is by Leandro Dal Ponte, son of the famous Jacopo, who made it in 1595; by the same painter is the Stoning of Saint Stephen, on the second altar on the right. The sculptures belong to Marinali, who executed them around 1704. The organ was made in 1796 by Francesco Antonio di Giacomo Dacci. The ceiling is decorated with three canvases by G. B. Volpato, a well-known painter from Bassano (1633 - 1706), in one of which is San Bassiano, patron saint of the city.
