The church of San Sebastiano was built on Monte Monfenera, most likely as a vow from the local population, following the repeated outbreaks of plague that struck the area during the 14th century. The inhabitants of Pederobba, in an attempt to escape the pestilence, turned their pleas to San Sebastiano and decided to build a sacred building in his honor. The small church was annexed to the parish of Pederobba while the worship and devotion towards the Saint grew year by year, to the extent that in the nearby parish of Cavaso del Tomba a panel by Bassano il Vecchio is preserved, depicting the Madonna with Saints Roch and Sebastian at whose feet are imploring men and women infected by the plague. “The white little church with the sharp red bell tower” was a definition by Paladini; it was destroyed during the Great War. Multiple shells struck the religious building in the winter of 1917 when a firestorm broke out on the small hill of San Sebastiano. The misery and poverty that followed the war period did not allow the people of Pederobba, who had emigrated en masse from their land, to rebuild all the rural chapels. First, the houses and the parish church had to be rebuilt, and then over time it was the turn of the smaller chapels, among which was that of San Sebastiano. Therefore, for several more years, the church remained in ruins. The current church aims to represent a temple to the Fallen of all Wars. It was designed by architect Giacomo Bresolin from Pederobba and was rebuilt with donations from the Pederobba population and inaugurated in 1969. It was restored again in the early 2000s by the Alpine Group of Pederobba. The celebrations to remember San Sebastiano take place on January 20th of each year.
