Its construction began in 1908. After the First World War it was necessary to bury the fallen soldiers in temporary cemeteries, so the church was used as an ossuary.
The exterior is in Gothic-Venetian style with traces of Romanesque; its bulk rises over 8 steps in Pove stone and is surmounted by an octagonal lantern. The two 60 m high steeples rise on the complex. The interior, a Latin cross, is 75 m long and is divided into three naves separated by 10 marble columns.
In the temple are buried about six thousand soldiers. In 1936 the funeral of General Gaetano Giardino took place here, whose monument is located in Viale delle Fosse and looks towards Grappa.
