The collaboration between Jacopo Ascari and Lunardelli Venezia has given rise to an exhibition of works that intertwine art, wood, and design, telling the story of Venice.
As part of the events that animate Venice during the opening of the Biennale Architecture 2025, Lunardelli Venezia and Jacopo Ascari present a project that celebrates the dialogue between material, memory, and visual art: an exhibition of thirty works shaped from the wood of the lagoon. The installation aligns with the theme Intelligens. Naturale. Artificiale. Collettiva, chosen by Carlo Ratti for the Biennale Architecture, offering a poetic reflection on the city, its history, and its transformation. An iconic element of Lunardelli Venezia, the Sfojo comes to life from the wood of the Venetian briccole, the oak poles that mark the waterways of the lagoon.
Carved by time and teredini, seasoned and refined by the hands of master artisans, this material is transformed into a living surface for Jacopo Ascari's visual narrative, an illustrator and architect who now lives and works between Venice and Milan. The thirty Sfoji tell the story of the grand spaces of Venetian art and hospitality where Lunardelli Venezia has left its artisanal mark: from the monumental rigor of Ca' Giustinian - home of the Venice Biennale, to the timeless elegance of the Hotel Danieli, from Tadao Ando's architectural vision for the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi to the artisanal care of the new Hotel Violino d’Oro, where every piece of furniture is a tailored masterpiece.
The project is curated by Venezia da Vivere and is part of the calendar of initiatives that enrich the city during the Biennale. The opening of the exhibition is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 7 PM. The exhibition will be open during the atelier's hours at Calle Seconda del Cristo 2210/A, just a few steps from Campo San Polo, Ca’ Pesaro, Fondazione Prada, and the main art galleries of the city.
