Mose di Venezia
Punta Sabbioni , Cavallino Treporti (VE) - 30013
The MOSE (Experimental Electromechanical Module) is an ambitious engineering project designed to protect Venice from flooding. It consists of a series of movable barriers installed at the inlets of the Venetian lagoon (Lido, Malamocco, and Chioggia). These barriers can be raised to block high tides and prevent the acqua alta that regularly threatens the city. Work on the MOSE began in 2003, and despite various delays and technical challenges, it was partially activated in 2020. The project, primarily funded by the Italian government, represents one of the largest civil engineering works ever undertaken in Italy.
