We will visit the Church of the Eremitani where the Giottesque painter Guariento d'Arpo frescoed on the walls of the apse the stories of Saints Philip, James and Augustine and images of the planets and the ages of man, according to the astrological culture of the 14th century.
We will continue the tour, with a visit to the Civic Museums where the art of the Paduan fourteenth century never ceases to amaze us even inside some of the rooms of the Museum that are set up to complement two UNESCO heritage fresco cycles: the Cross by Giotto, originally located inside the Scrovegni Chapel, and the Angels by the painter Guariento d'Arpo.
Then we will move to the area of the squares where we will visit the Palazzo della Ragione, revealing the background of its many functions over six centuries and recounting arts, crafts, workshops described in the world's largest astrological cycle frescoed along the walls. It represents part of the development of Paduan painting that expressed a completely new way of representing narrative in painting with the new spatial perspectives influenced by advances in science and the ability to paint the human figure with natural realism allowing it for the first time in the history of painting to be able to express feelings and emotions that are part of our human nature. These cycles of frescoes represent a unique ensemble that in terms of quantity of frescoed walls and aesthetic quality is unparalleled in the history of art.
