“T.V.B. Traditional Venetian Boat” and “ARKA” in collaboration with Delta Tour Tourist Navigation
Organize evening boat trips on the Piovego to rediscover the secrets of our city.
8:00 PM: Meet the captain and board the boat at the dock of Parco Fistomba, near Ponte Ognissanti on Via Ognissanti – PADUA.
MEETING POINT: https://maps.app.goo.gl/Um7MCP1GNCwpN2EU9
The navigation will begin along a river route through the city’s navigable canals, skirting the ancient Venetian Renaissance walls. From the boat, you will admire monumental sites visible from the river. The trip will reach the Golena di San Prosdocimo, passing by the Bastione del Castelnuovo, the largest bastion of the entire city wall, as well as the Bastione Buovo or Portello Vecchio, followed by the Bastione del Portello Nuovo, which hosts a replica of a magnificent Lion of the Serenissima.
The route continues along the straight stretch of the sixteenth-century walls that border the university citadel, reaching Portello, the most important river port of the city. On the Portello Gate, Marco Antonio Loredan, Prefect, in 1518, acknowledged Padua’s ancient origins while at the same time affirming its Venetian rule. The beautiful sixteenth-century staircase, rediscovered thanks to a painting by Canaletto now held in Washington, has made it possible to admire this spectacular Renaissance setting.
The navigation will continue towards the historic centre, reaching the heart of Padua and the Conca delle Porte Contarine.
Around 9:30 PM, return to Parco Fistomba and end of services.
