Open air First World War Museum
Monte Piana was the backdrop to a great deal of fierce fighting during World War One between Italian and Austro-Hungarian troops. Today it is a veritable open air museum where you can see trenches, fortifications and barbed wire. There is a small museum inside Rifugio Maggiore Bosi which contains some of the area’s war relics. You can get here from Misurina on a convenient jeep shuttle service.
