The villa stands on a Roman centuriation, the traces of which are visible inside the cellars. It was built in the mid-1500s, undergoing various transformations over the centuries, increasingly taking on the role of a summer residence. The eighteenth-century park is rich in ancient and rare plants, some imported from different parts of the world. The villa hosted a military hospital during the Napoleonic era and was later occupied during World War II.
