Treviso also tells its story by following the course of water, which has protected the city over the centuries, accompanied its connections, and fueled productive activities. Water, iron, and pedals is a guided bicycle tour that crosses these different landscapes, linking the urban history of Treviso to the Treviso-Ostiglia cycle path and the course of the Sile.
The route first leads to the discovery of the relationship between Treviso and its walls, once surrounded by the water of the moats that contributed to the city's defense. The ride then continues along the Treviso-Ostiglia, now a cycle path immersed in greenery but originally laid out on the route of a military railway: a piece of infrastructure from the past that has found a new purpose in slow mobility.
Gradually, the urban landscape gives way to the river landscape. Following the Sile, one reaches the territory of Quinto di Treviso, where water has provided the necessary energy for the operation of mills and the production of flour destined also for Venice for centuries. Walls, railway, river, and evidence of milling activity thus become the stops of a single narrative, accompanied by the guide throughout the journey.
At the end of the ride, an aperitif at Treviso.bike is scheduled, marking the final moment of the tour.
