A guided tour of the exhibition “Nino Springolo and the two companions”, hosted at the Luigi Bailo Museum, to learn about one of the protagonists of the early twentieth-century Treviso artistic scene and to reconstruct the cultural context in which his research develops.
The exhibition path brings together about one hundred works from public and private collections and explores the figure of Agostino “Nino” Springolo, an artist connected to Treviso and part of the vibrant climate that, between Treviso and Venice, revolved around the experiences at Ca’ Pesaro. Springolo also participated in the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadriennale, while maintaining a personal and independent position with respect to the main movements of the period. Accompanied by a guide, visitors can follow the evolution of his language through landscapes, lagoon views, and scenes of the Treviso countryside. His painting traverses post-impressionist and divisionist suggestions, the comparison with Cézanne, and the study of tradition, without definitively adhering to a specific current.
The visit thus allows for observing the works in relation to the artist's biography, the Treviso territory, and other protagonists of his generation, deepening a pictorial research built slowly and characterized by continuous experimentation.
