The Fish Market Island is located in the center of the Cagnan Grande. It was created in 1856, under Austrian rule, by architect Francesco Bomben, by rearranging three natural islets and creating an island in the shape of an ellipse, connected to the mainland by two bridges. Every morning from Tuesday to Saturday, it hosts the city fish market. In 2002, the Municipality developed a project to renovate the Fish Market, thanks to the collaboration of architect Toni Follina, when the partially stone counters were replaced with the current steel and covered ones.
Adjacent to the bridge leading to the San Leonardo area is the building complex known as Molinetto, so named because it was built on the site of an old mill. In its memory, the wheel that still turns, powered by water, remains.
The island is surrounded by buildings, some decorated with "tapestries" and frescoed bands.
