Oratorio di Sant'Antonio Abate

The Oratory of St. Anthony Abbot, located on the south side of Mount Madonna, can be reached by taking an easy path from Passo Fiorine.
The building in Romanesque style (14th century) is the result of a larger complex that included a larger church, of which the base of the apse is recognizable near the bell tower.
The oratory, recently restored, and a section of wall are all that remain of the ancient monastery. A testament from 1215 documents the presence of a monastic community of the Benedictine Congregation of Albi until the first half of the 14th century.
In 1405, the monastery was merged with the Padua monastery of Ognissanti and, from the early 1600s, with the Abbey of Praglia.
One of the most significant aspects of the site is the presence, near the little church, of a small natural cavity carved into the mountain. Inside, a spring flows, making the grotto an ideal place for hermits.
Between the 8th and 9th centuries, it was also chosen by St. Felicita, whose remains are kept in the Basilica of St. Giustina in Padua, at the altar dedicated to her.
