The present appearance of the church dates back to the eighteenth century, but evidence of the original building can be seen in the twelfth century.
The toponym “Campo Marzio” meant the marshy and unhealthy area outside the walls that was “colonized” by numerous confraternities and religious orders who founded their own monasteries there, remediating over the centuries those lands making them cultivable and habitable.
The building was bombed during the Second World War and rebuilt in the Neoclassical style.
The church houses two illustrious chapels and paintings by various authors: the chapels Giusti and Marogna and the artists Farinati, Brusasorzi, Caroto, Girolamo dai Libri and the “Pala Argentea” with Our Lady with Child and Saints of Paolo Veronese, located in the Marogna chapel.
