Duomo di San Michele Arcangelo

Piazzale Pio XII, 10 , Mirano (VE) - 30035

The interior consists of a single large nave that opens, beyond the triumphal arch, into an imposing and splendid presbytery. A large part of the surfaces is occupied by frescoed representations that address two important liturgical themes: faith and the Last Judgment.

The entire cycle, with its light and flat hues, repeats a decorative scheme typical of Tiepolo, except for expressing a more 19th-century air in the freer lateral scenes. The author, almost certainly one of the last followers of Tiepolo, is Costantino Cedini. The likely date of execution of Cedini's frescoes can be placed in the first decade of the 19th century, around 1807, the year the painter executed the decoration and fresco of the church in Dolo. At the center, above an altar, precious for its ornaments and bas-reliefs, majestically stands the temple of God: the tabernacle, while cherubs carry on the sides the symbol of divine presence: the holy host of the Eucharist, executed in 1720. In the third altar, there is a painting by Tiepolo.

The bell tower is a typical example of 18th-century construction with soberly Baroque forms; elegant and harmonious, it begins on a rusticated base of Istrian stone, revealing a pleasant structure of bricks. Above the portal is the date of construction, 1737.
