In the locality of Barbozza, this oratory (once a hermitage) is undoubtedly the most historically significant building. The period of its construction is unknown; however, it has been noted that hermits have been present in the area since the 15th century, specifically from 1488. Since ancient times, it has been a destination for pilgrimages from all over the Quartier del Piave, especially in the summer and, in particular, on the Feast of the Saint, August 7. The population would go there to invoke rain during periods of drought. It has been restored several times throughout history, particularly by brother Giuseppe Pilla, a hermit who resided there for a long time. At the entrance of the oratory, his tombstone is still visible. Inside, various wooden sculptures and paintings depicting the saints were kept.
The oratory is reachable via the itinerary "Trodo degli Oratori": a ring path, part of the new itineraries of the UNESCO hills, which crosses the vineyards of the villages of Santo Stefano and Barbozza and follows a medium mountain route through the forests of Val Curta.
“The Trodo degli Oratori” (“trodo”, the name by which the locals refer to the paths) combines hiking and the nature of the Monte Cesen massif with a touch of spirituality. Indeed, along the main path and its two variants, it is possible to reach numerous small churches, hermitages, and oratories. This itinerary offers the opportunity to enjoy the panorama of Valdobbiadene with the Cartizze basin, the Moliane heights of the Asolani Hills, and, on clearer days, the Euganean Hills and the Venetian Lagoon.
