Linea Generale took shape during the Nuoro Jazz 2023 seminars. The six young musicians immediately felt a particular synergy among themselves, a key element for translating this into musical harmony. Not only will they have the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Nuoro Jazz Festival 2024, but they will also be entitled to a scholarship to support them in the artistic development of their project and repertoire.
Key elements of Linea Generale's music are improvisation and the lyricism of their compositions. Stylistic references include Bill Frisell and Lee Konitz.
The name “Linea Generale” is an ode to Dutch director Pieter Jan Smit and to the group's first concert which took place not in our peninsula, but in Rotterdam alongside the aforementioned director.
The masterclass of the ValdobbiadeneJazz Young&School aims to bring live music, creating a moment of strengthening and confrontation between young emerging musicians and jazz music students. Not only aimed at music students, it could also be an opportunity for those without specific skills who wish to participate as listeners. Through this project, we want to highlight all the nuances of this art form, not only through musical performance but also through direct dialogue between teachers and students.
The proposed masterclass can help develop musical ear, understand the language, the interpretation of the score, and improve improvisation skills through structured exercises and a jam session. Furthermore, it aims to strengthen inspiration and motivation in students' musical journeys, offering them the opportunity to engage with young talented artists and immerse themselves in jazz culture.
The concert lesson will be held on April 30, on the occasion of International Jazz Day, lasting three hours, with participation ranging from a minimum of 15 to a maximum of 50 people.
The cost of the masterclass is €15.00 per person.
