An opportunity to visit the ancient Jewish cemetery on Wiel Street, the oldest remaining in Padua. The cemetery, used from the 16th century until the 18th century, is located outside the medieval walls, but 16th-century ramparts played an important role in protecting it.
Inside, the Jewish cemetery houses the burials of important figures who brought prestige to the city of Padua. Among the figures buried in the cemetery is the important master Rabbi Meir Katzenhellebogen, who lived in Padua in the 16th century and was active in the Padua community.
The guided tour, in addition to delving into the figure of the important rabbi, will also allow participants to take part in stories about the rituals of mourning associated with Jewish culture.
