ValdobbiadeneJazz 2024 hosts Linea Generale.
Linea Generale was formed during the Nuoro Jazz 2023 seminars. Individually recognized as the “best participants of the 2023 edition,” the six young musicians immediately sensed a special connection among themselves, a fundamental element in translating this affinity into musical harmony. Thanks to a scholarship, they were able to artistically develop the project and their repertoire, gaining the opportunity to perform at the prestigious Nuoro Jazz Festival 2024, where they received wide acclaim and success.
The improvisation and lyricism of their compositions are key elements of Linea Generale's music, which draws inspiration from artists such as Bill Frisell and Lee Konitz. The name “Linea Generale” is a tribute to the Dutch director Pieter Jan Smit and to the group's first concert, which took place not in Italy, but in Rotterdam, in the company of the aforementioned director.
The band members come from different parts of Italy, with two currently residing in the Netherlands. Last April, they spent a week in the beautiful hills of Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and another period this summer in Rotterdam, to focus on their project, working and studying together.
