ValdobbiadeneJazz 2024 hosts Enrico Pieranunzi Trio "FelliniJazz".
Federico Fellini (1920 – 1993) left us cinematic masterpieces such as I Vitelloni, La Strada, La Dolce Vita and many others, whose soundtracks are now far in the past and in memory.
By creating the album Fellinijazz for Camjazz in 2003, Enrico Pieranunzi shed new light on the splendid music composed by Nino Rota for those films.
In 2013, to honor the brilliant Rimini director twenty years after his passing, Fellinijazz, which was then hailed as an extraordinary event, will be reissued by Camjazz on double vinyl. For the joy of fans of those films and Pieranunzi's followers, the release will be enriched with some solo piano pieces that the Italian pianist has recorded specifically for the occasion.
The tracks from Fellinijazz will be presented to the audience by Pieranunzi's Italian trio, which includes Luca Bulgarelli on double bass and Mauro Beggio on drums.
A leading figure in Italian and European jazz for many years, Pieranunzi performs in this concert with a formation that has constituted his privileged ground for expression and experimentation since its beginnings. The classic piano-bass-drums trio is indeed the sound dimension that has offered him the best opportunities to fully express his qualities as an instrumentalist, interpreter, and composer. Countless concerts and recordings with famous and renowned Italian trios (the Space Jazz Trio of the '80s), American (with Marc Johnson and Joey Baron or with Charlie Haden and Paul Motian) and European (with Hein Van de Geyn and André Ceccarelli). A production rich in both quantity and quality, which has allowed the Italian pianist to make an important contribution to the development of this kind of formation.
