The XXIII National Urban Trekking Day invites you to discover cities and villages at a slow pace, uniting culture, landscape, and movement. For the 2026 edition, the theme is “Saint Francis 1226–2026: in the footsteps of the essential”, an invitation to revisit his message through walking and the relationship with nature and the community.
The journey will begin in San Pietro di Barbozza di Valdobbiadene, crossing some sections of the Prosecco Superiore Ring among vineyards, rural roads, and panoramic views of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene. A landscape where nature and human labor meet and continue to tell the profound bond between the community and its land.
Following the rhythm of footsteps and making room for the sounds of nature. The path will reach the Hermitage of Sant’Alberto, an ancient place of worship and pilgrimage, known over the centuries also as a retreat for various hermits dedicated to a life of simplicity and away from the superfluous.
The stop at Sant’Alberto will thus become a particularly significant moment of the journey: an opportunity to reflect on the value of silence, solitude, and simplicity, recalling Saint Francis's message and his relationship with Creation.
From here, the journey will continue towards the Convent of the Immaculate of Lourdes, a Franciscan presence in San Pietro di Barbozza, where the Conventual Friars Minor reside. A place that concretely recalls the figure of Saint Francis, in continuity with the theme of essentiality, simplicity, and the relationship with Creation that accompanies the trekking.
The path will then continue towards the area of Cartizze, a unique landscape, shaped over the centuries by human labor and the relationship with nature, which along with the other hills in the area constitutes the cultural landscape recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
From here, the journey will resume towards the center of San Pietro di Barbozza, where the trekking will conclude by returning to the starting point.
An experience to rediscover, through the slow pace, silence, and landscape, the beauty of simple things and the value of what truly matters.
