The founding date is uncertain although some sources trace the reconstruction to around the early decades of the seventeenth century, based on a previous chapel first recorded in 1529.
Essential, but with more imposing proportions compared to the previous one, it is distinguished by its single vaulted ceiling interior. The most striking and interesting feature of the church is the bell tower, which resembles a typically Nordic construction style. The pictorial decoration, dismantled after the deconsecration, consists of a series of frescoes by the painter G. Moech, while the upper part of the main altar houses the Deposition, attributed to Frigimelica. Some of the paintings are preserved in the church of the Sacred Heart and some in the deposits of the rectory.
After a conservative restoration, the church is now used as a venue for exhibitions and concerts.
