Museo storico della Giostra

The museum path called "The Places of the Elsewhere" winds through the rooms of the ancient Palazzo Strozzi, presenting games and performances that reconstruct three interconnected stories: 1) the story of the Fair and the Amusement Park, with particular attention to the Italian area; 2) the historicization of the most popular rides, in their evolution from the ritual games of ancient societies to the modern thrill rides; 3) the origins of the Traveling Show of Bergantino and the Veneto District of the Ride.

The exhibition is predominantly documentary, supported by antique objects, period musical instruments, artistic artifacts, paintings, publications, prints, and photographs, both original and reproductions, with thematic insights in the touchscreens and video projections available in the rooms. The Museum, in addition to offering this rich exhibition path while paying attention to communication and education, is also engaged in research and documentation of itinerant entertainment, continually increasing its photographic and documentary archive year by year.
