Fans who have followed his work for decades will be surprised to discover many unpublished works, especially from the fertile period between the late 1980s and the early 1990s, when the artist turned his gaze from the human figure to the places of life, art, and memory that still involve him today, while maturing a pictorial language of fluid brushstrokes, absolutely original and unmistakable, which brings images to the surface of the canvas even in the absence of a precise drawing. It is the visual memory of the viewer that completes the work and makes the subjects perfectly recognizable.
Choosing the broad theme of interiors as a thread, the exhibition allows us to enter worlds that often no longer exist, returning to new poetic life thanks to painting.
From industrial archaeological sites, places of work from the last century, to domestic interiors, places of intimacy in private life, completely transformed in a few decades, to sacred places, the grand interiors of baroque churches so thoroughly examined by the artist, to libraries and archives, guardians of memory. Works of various sizes will be shown, from small panels to large canvases over three meters, in dialogue with each other and with the environments of the silk mill. The recent complete renovation, functional to a space that is not only exhibition-related, has managed to safeguard its soul and history.
