The term "alla veneziana comes from the fact that this type of equipment for cutting boards from logs was adopted by the Republic of Venice based on Leonardo da Vinci's model.
Below is an explanation of how the sawmill works: the water flows through a channel and falls on a wheel that is positioned on a shaft, transmitting movement inside the building. A flywheel (pulley) to which an eccentric is fixed is connected to a wooden connecting rod, transforming the rotary motion into reciprocating motion. This is used to operate a frame vertically where the saw blade is fixed and to slowly advance the carriage, on which the log is placed, through a rope that winds around a wooden roller.
How to get there:
Arriving in Valli del Pasubio, continue on the SP46 in the direction of Rovereto. Two kilometers after the village of Valli, in the Gisbenti district, turn right at the height of the Norda company facility, following the signs for contrada Sega. The sawmill is located just off the SP46, also visible from the road.
